So, 8th Edition is on its way, and apparently they've even tried to make our friend the Pyrovore playable...

Hopefully this gets the bug mojo flowing again, and the motivation to actually play 40K again lol.

At this point the game is non-existant to me. I played maybe a handful of 7th edition games and was over it. I'm hoping the rules change for the better and bring me back, otherwise, I'm sticking to painting and collecting (probably not buying any future models unless they're must haves.) :?

I have just been painting and collecting too, this edition of 40K is just a headache.

FWIW I've mostly shifted to AoS of late and the more similarities to that game the better in my mind. I'm playing a huge 40k Apoc game next weekend with a few friends at the libel shop and I'd really rather use a different ruleset.

Add me to the list of people that have shelved my nid army for the last year or three. Have high hopes for this thing. The Genestealer rules looked fun and were almost identical to the house rules I had, which helps.

Glad I didn't sell my army. If it's really good, I might even finish sculpting that Dominatrix. :D

I'm pretty optimistic for this edition for Nids- I'm hoping for a return to form with us being fearsome in assault once more. I had a exocrine half built but I wasn't that bothered about it so it was set aside. But the idea of them revising all the rules made me think the Haruspex might be useable - which was why I bought the kit in the first case. Just ripped the head and gun off the exocrine and I'm building and basing a haruspex this weekend!

Magnetize it like I did and it can be both! :)

Count me in as another old nid player who may be brought back to the fold by 8th. I've been out of 40k for the past 10years except for a few small games with friends over the years. I switched to Fantasy, then AoS. Genestealer Cult brought me back a little, but what little hobby time I had mostly went to AoS. Now, I'm hopeful for 40k for the first time in ages.

I'll buck the trend and admit I've persevered with my nids through 7th [and 6th and 5th for that matter]. It's only recently my Dark Angels reached a size that gave me options to be a viable alternative to fielding the bugs. However, I kept coming back to the Tyranids as they were much simpler to play. Admittedly that simplicty also translated to their lack of success thanks to most other factions complexities offering all sorts of tricksy benefits.

Ultimately though I recongised we were unloved, underpowered and unlucky so I just used the experience as an opportunity to enjoy gaming regardless of the result. That's not to say I wasn't disappointed my lack of success or never grumbled about how we'd been left behind, but a new found enjoyment of the shared experience means whatever benefits the new rules for 8th bring will just add to the fun.

I'm actually quite optimistic. From everything I've seen they seem to have genuinely realized the mistakes they've made and are actually trying to rectify them. Of course we won't know until it's released, but I have a good feeling about this- to the point I've actually unearthed my 'nids and am focusing on them for painting.

I have been reading the army profile articles they have been throwing up and each one is just exciting. I have high hopes and I bet we are ALL waiting for the tyranid article.
