All that fun with shrouded cover saves and MCs is over... D weapons just need to roll a six on your hierodule and it's good game :(

Hmm I dunno - you need to roll a 6 and a hierodule just looses d3 W. Its not that bad

Plus the elite wraith units only have a 12 inch range, so they might get off 1 round of shooting and if they don't kill the LOW, you can murder them in assault afterwards. It will suck when wraithknights are firing D from a distance, but they need to hit first, then roll a 6 to really do some damage, so the changes are fairly low.

Not so, unfortunately. A 6 on a D-weapon causes anywhere from 7-12 Wounds, with no saves of any kind allowed.

There is an idea about wraithguard bomb. 10 wraithguards with archon with wwp deepstrike (in raider or serpent) and lay 10 templates with D strength ignoring cover. This bomb is most useful against vehicles. They also have devastating overwatch fire and T6 and 3+ save is not that easy to shoot them down.

All of that combined is about as many points as a hierodule I believe and its a suicide squad. So even if it kills the target, its likely to die in return on the next turn or 2. So yes it sucks, but its not a cheap bomb unit you are talking about here.

I don't understand why people call 10 T6, 3+ models suicide squad. It takes some shooting to take it down. Against assaults it is 10d3 hits with D strength. Unit kills what it tends to kill. Later squad would sit on nearby objective and probably scores line breaker. It is not the perfect tactic, but it definitely has some usage.

Because they have to get within 12 inches to fire, its the same with fire dragons. Which means they get shot to crap after they fire and possibly assaulted. Depends on if you are talking about the flamer or shooting ones. Yes the flamers ones need to be even closer but are much better vs. over watch, obviously.

It looks like the time for hordes of hormagaunts with toxinsacs is back. As long the D-templates are out of range, those can rush in to finish the job on the Wraith-constructs. I wanna see them a roll-to-wound with a D-weapon on a hormagaunt. I really do. It means that you made the Eldar make a bad choice on target priority.
I would not recommend lictors against them, unless as decoy, again to make the guard making bad chices on priority targets.
Spam them with deadly small fry and the D-weapons shall fire their hearts out on them, it will do them no good.

What concerns me mostly is that we Tyranids have yet not a single choice on a D-weapon, while many of the recent codices get it (and in case on the Eldar, get a lot of it).
And now the Knight is a colossal creature.
Which means whatever the toxicrene was made for, now it is useless against the Knight.
And so is any other monster for the Eldar now a big target.

if ina new tyr-codex our costs get reduced, and maybe some of our LoW's get uplifted (& reduced costs), then we can think again about fielding them against Eldar.
But now, I would feel ashamed to offer them a big target just for them to shoot it down with no sweat. They do that already enough with Fire Drakes.
*sigh* I already wonder if I should still field the Living Artillary formation, since it requires an Exocrine. I suppose my biovores need to return back to single-survival-mode.

Yeah, hordes of toxic hormagaunts and termagants sound like a pretty good tactic to me. Nidzilla may need to take a back burner for a month or two.

I've also been having huge trouble with Khorne Daemonkin (since I don't really want to run all flyrant lists...). Bloodthirsters getting spawned late game and negative consequences of lots of small units may mean that large units of toxic gaunts and hormaguants are a great bet. My next list to try out against that will be an endless swarm list, with all toxic gaunts and a lot of devourers mixed in. I plan to wrap them around the swarmlord and a tervigon, so any gaunts that get charged can be given counter attack, and preferred enemy and or monster hunter for counter charges in my turn.
