Been looking at dice, and reading about how inaccurate GW and Chessex dice are (rolling 29% 1s!).

The obvious solution to the inaccuracy problem is casino dice but the tend to be very large, have sharp edgers and tend to be considerably more expensive than gaming dice. Found a US casino dice manufacturer (Midwest Gaming Supply) that makes casino dice in 1/2" (12mm), 9/16" (14mm) and 5/8" (16mm) in a variety of colors and can be had with feathered edges/corners.

Price in quantity would be $5.30 per pair, plus $125 for the Warpshadow logo if we want that. This is probably too spendy for most, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Any interest?

Tim

I am up for a dice round. But surely not at that price. I don't play much, so casino dice would surely be a waste for me :P

I was there for the first round and still proudly use my dice.

It seems odd, I have saved my Nids many times with good saves but I fall short on the to-wound rolls.

I can say in a roll off of about 12+ dice, I would rarely see a 6 (The ripper symbol) but on occassion when I roll 6 or less, I would get 4-6 sixes and this comes up often enough for my friends to consider them loaded.

I think I even once had 3 hormagaunts roll 4 sixes and two 1s and the re-roll came up as 6s. The to wound rolls were also all 6s.

I need to subscribe to this. May want another set just for fun. Even more so if we go for smaller dice this time around.

I am not interested in big casino die but in small (GW size) ones, furthermore this may imply a smaller weight unbalance.

Looks like not enough interest for Warpshadow casino dice, but here is info for folks interested in smaller casino dice:

Basic dice info (colors, sizes, finishes). Asking for feathered edges will soften those sharp corners that you see on most casino dice.

I ordered some in 9/16" size, between the 1/2" GW dice and standard 5/8" dice

Casino dice are the most accurate dice available, regardless of size. That said, they are available in "GW" sizes. See links above.

Being an ex-craps dealer... I can vouch for casino dice accuracy...

However, I also want to say that they have a high likelihood of denting and deforming over time...

You can actually take your finger nail and push an indent in to them...

Does this company allow us to design our own logos???

If we could get razor-edged Tyrannic ouroboris dice I'd definitely be interested in those, but I'd certainly like them to be small - I have a pile of normal-sized casino dice and they are just too large to use for much when you routinely need to roll 20+ dice.

Interesting. I have a very old pair of casino dice and they have definitely shrunk.

Yes

Regarding size, GW pipped dice are roughly 1/2". Scatter dice are roughly 5/8".

Just measured a regular GW die and a scatter die.
Pipped dice across flats: .477", .484" 2 x .478"
Scatter dice across flats: .615", .617", .639", .634"

So yeah, not accurate at all...

Ha! That is the kind of diligence in measuring I can admire.

So (around) 12mm for the dice cube dice and 16mm for the full size scatter die.

So if they would do the 0.500 for us (14mm) then it should be good.

I wonder what kind of logos do they do. Casino dice are drilled and an equal amount of material is placed in for the pip (so I was told). They definitely won't be doing the same indented designs as our previous Ripper Logo.

It will be a painted logo most likely on the 2 side sharing the 2 pips. Remember that.

In this case, the only thing I can see that would fit is the trygon or ravener or a symetrical symbol (two claws and heads?) that would span diagonally between the 2 pips.

Sorry, meant to add metric measurements too....

Looking at casino dice on ebay shows that logos go on on 1 side or the 2 side depending on the logo. Was thinking that the ripper could be sized to wrap around the 1 pip nicely. Looks like the casino logos are engraved, so they must balance with the weight of the pips (?).

Here is one of the shrunken casino dice that HFMaximus was talking about. No dea how long it takes for this to happen...

The 14mm dice I ordered from Midwest Gaming Supply arrived today as well a some scrap dice from eBay.

Turns out it is Midwest Gaming Supply that sells scrap dice on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scrap-Dice-Sold ... 2c6559990d

These are the large size casino dice and have very minor surface flaws that make them unusable in casinos, but should be fine for gaming. Probably even better than GW or Chessex dice as far as accurate dice rolling is concerned.

Size comparison: L to R GW die, new 9/16 (14mm) die, standard 5/8" die, large casino die
