Thought I would say "Hi I am still alive" lol

I haven't been doing much Tyranid work lately. Chaos has allowed me to express my talent a lot better due to the freedom that chaos is. No strict paint schemes or design rules when it comes to chaos. I do have a small blob of Genestealer Cult, but totally not in the mood to paint a horde army right now lol.

I HAD to have Magnus, there was no doubt about it. This was quite the model to tackle... the wings alone flared up a problem tendon in my painting hand! Sadly... my photos never do my work any justice, but figured I would share anyhow. The colours are a lot more vibrant, the light washes them out in the photos.

I cut the ab plate out. I was surprised Mangus had a totally sculpted chest. The ab muscle detail is a lot cooler then a flat plate with a Tzeentch icon on it. The way Magus' armour is segmented too made the armour plate there feel off in the flow of things.

I also kept the wing armour off since it was an odd design, and it would not work with the wings being magnetized. The one wing ended up closer to magnus' hair and thus the armour would not fit.

I chose the default face because that facial expression is perfect.

Since I went with the sword, I had a leftover energy ball, so I converted it into some spell that is erupting from the eye in Magus' palm.

Gave him a custom scuplted warping base too, in line with his warlord trait. Just standing on some broken Dreadnaughts arm is not enough to show Magus' vast power.

The bird heads on his armour I painted in bone, it makes them stand out a little better, and fits the warping change that magus extrudes, as if armour is melting into bone.

Ugh painting giant wings all by hand... I have a funny feeling a new Lord of Change kit is upon us soon... more giant wings T_T

If I do start heavily blogging again, high chance I will be making an Instagram account.

Great "mini"ature,

i love the small conversions you did. They are really subtle, not knowing the model very good i wouldn´t have noticed.
Showing a sixpack is always nice ( if you have one :D )
What about the details covert by the loincloth, did you sculpt those 8-)

The base is cool too. I like the patterns.

Painting looks good, but in the actual light situation its hard do give solid feedback.

Hahhahaa nope, he's totally smooth under there xD

Yeah taking photos really irritates me, its why I hardly post anything anymore... He has very vibrant colours and I worked really hard on the skin and wing blending, yet I just can't get it to show in photos... I have no space to set up a photography booth either. That may change when I move.

Very cool indeed, Madame KrewL. I particularly like the way that you have painted the wings.

With the death of my old lamp, a friend mentioned Ottlite. I check the site and its all US, so that is a huge nope with the exchange rate and possible duty fees.

When I was getting a new bulb for my small desk lamp at Canadian Tire I stumble upon Ottlites ON CLEARANCE! I grab the last reading lamp on the shelf, liking the look and that I can duel role it as a reading lamp/desk lamp. I did a test photo with cellphone camera, and was impressed.

Even with an inferior camera, you can see the colours and strokes on his skin! I am defiantly going to get another in the future to set up a photo area.

And I figured this was going to happen soon...

WANT SO BAD.

I am going to hold off until the move is over, and then get it as a trophy for conquering change. Moves always put my mental health into a spin... My social worker has been proud that I've been doing well with battling the stress.
