Over on The Painted Dragon forum, Hellfire and I are having a joint motivational project. Every month we choose a new Dark Eldar unit, and we both have to assemble and paint that unit before the end of the month.

January was Wyches, February was Incubi and March is a Raider.

I thought I'd share my progress so far with you guys on this forum.

I have finished March's project - The Dark Eldar Raider. I'm really really happy with how this one has come out. The airbrush blends are tighter then the original and the armour of the crew and passengers is looking better too.

Luv'ly work as usual, Gareth. I'm been working on 1700 points of new DE for an April 2nd tournie and it's taking me way longer and they're nowhere near this good.

Seeing work like yours is always a good motivator (b~_^)b

My apologies for not replying sooner Gareth. At the time, I didn't have anything at a stage where it was worth showing, and then I started a renovation project installing hardwood flooring upstairs in our house :(

I have finally posted some new pics of my own DE, if you're still interested.

Cheers.

Not to hijack Gareth's thread, but I have to say that I love your Baron(ness?) on custom windsurfer skyboard!
How the heck did you score so many of the smooth-masked DE heads? Did you raid several squadrons of Reavers? Or did you simply use one of the bits ordering sites?
Also, using wych legs to make more dynamic-looking warriors/trueborn was a great idea.

[deep apologies to Gareth]

Thank you very much, Mr. Pink. Yes, I quite like the dynamisim of how the Baroness turned out. I really just wanted to keep the aethersail-like theme going.

Some of the Reaver mask are ..... um ....... *cough*GS-stamped*cough* ...... I inverted a couple and made a mold of them. I already had 12 old Reavers and did buy 6 of the new ones, but I didn't want to spend any further on them (DE has already been quite the pocket-drain). If you get up close, a lot of of their fine detail is gone, but they aren't supposed to be exact replicas and they serve my thematic purpose, so it's fine.

The inter-changeability of this entire range is excellent and really allows these beautiful models to be exploited tremendously.

No apologies needed. It's always good to talk about the hobby.

I'm currently painting my reaver jetbikes. Check out the WIP...

Seriously envious. Your edging is so crisp and neat, and subtle.

Wonderful. The light edging on the blades/fins is superb.

For some reason the silky smooth aquamarine on the Reavers reminds me of tron. In any case, they are looking sublime as usual mate!

Holy Cow!
I think they're reminding you of Tron, NukeAngel, because they positively glow. Phenomenal work, Gareth!
