Thanks, Yale! yeah, I have some truly ancient figures lying around. Wait 'til you see what's coming next...

Inquisitor Marius and his friends had their first outing against some Eldar last night, playing Maelstrom as is our wont. From this I learned a couple of things:

1. I haz armour! It is striking how durable each individual figure in this army seems, after playing tyranids for so long. At least until the bladestorms hit...

2. With my nids I find that most of the strategic considerations are worked out in the Movement phase. With this army, it's more about the Shooting phase, deciding what to shoot and when.

I have much to ponder...

Greetings, Hive-Siblings,

Amazingly, it hasn't taken the habitual three months for me to get the next part of this force painted. I present to you: Dreadnought Telum:

And with Barry the Devastator.

Yes, dreadnoughts really used to be that small...

Next: More henchmen for Inquisitor Marius...

Since Accommodator isn't here to say it, I'll do it in his stead: Oh my aching bones - an original dread! I dig that you've kept the missile launcher and that you've tried to cut the lascannons to size. They still look a bit big and square, but I can't think of a way around it.
And props for getting Telum done so quick. :)

I've still got one of the stubby legged versions and I can't figure out what to do with him. If I had a bunch more maybe use them as centurions. But I don't like them enough to hunt down and pay ebay prices for them.

Old lead, always great to see that stuff again.
That reminds me of my Carnifexproject.

I like your model, for an inquisitorial warband its pretty fitting to use an old model, as these bands are mostly motley crew from different worlds.

Thank you both very much!

Yale: I just did a search on "Rogue Trader Dreadnought" at EBay and came up with the following:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... t&_sacat=0

Maybe useful?

...and I'm back.

Inquisitor Marius' retinue is now complete! I present to you:

Death Cult Assassin Occidatora (another Reaper model: Mi-Sher):

And finally, a group shot of Inquisitor Marius and his merry band:

Next: The inquisitor's wheels...or rather, tracks. Could be a while, as I'm playing with the magnets again...

Cool bunch of models.
Group shot is great, to see all those different characters together.

For me the bases are a bit to plain. I would do a strong highlight by drybrushing and than put some wash on it to blend it togehter.
What about adding some battlefield debris, the typical skulls or stuff like that to make them more interresing?

Keep the wheelz coming

Harald: thank you for the feedback! I'm currently painting for speed, so I'm keeping the bases simple, but once the army is done, I'll review them and see if I need to carry out an army-wide spiffing up. :)

Greetings, Hive-Siblings,

So, Inquisitor Marius' force has now hit 1500 points, with the completion of his overly-magnetised chimera! Though strictly-speaking, to keep it at 1500 I have to leave some stormtroopers at home. :)

Anyway - pictures!

My favoured combination: multi-laser, heavy bolter, extra armour and dozer blade:

Alternatively, you could have heavy flamers, a heavy stubber and truesilver armour:

...or lots of bolters, an H-K missile and a searchlight:

Image

...and yes, the commander is removable for those awkward "immobilised" moments.

Lots of bits!

This was my first experiment with GW-style edge highlighting. I'm not sure that I'm a fan of it.

Taking a pause from the Ordo Xenos for a bit. The hive-mind calls me...along with some elves...

Yay for the milestone! :D

Why is that? I reckon the chimera looks great. A good example is how your tank track came out. They are black like real tank tracks, yet completely visually distinct from the black hull. That's cool.

Yay for new tryanids (and elves too)!

Thank you, Yale! I guess the edge highlighting looks a little artificial to me, whereas I prefer to try for a more naturalistic look that reflects more how light falls on objects. Or maybe I'm just too wedded to old fashioned washing and drybrushing... :)

Thank you! Comparing this to the razorback, it seems that space marines need benches to sit on but other imperial troopers don't. I thought the marines were supposed to be the tough guys! :)

Greetings, Hive-Siblings,

A brief return to the Ordo Xenos. As my list mutates in the wake of the release of the Deathwatch codex, I give you Captain Gaius Mucro, the Golden Angel, Lictorslayer, Bearer of the Ashen Blade (and nifty steampunk wings from Micro Art Studios):
