Greetings, Brood Siblings,

We remain, of course, faithful to the swarm, but at times our muses (can tyranids have muses?) lead us to other projects. So it is with my second army, an Ordo Xenos force, created using a combination of the Space Marine, Inquisition and Imperial Guard codices. This thread will trace my (snail-like) progress in creating this army.

The army represents an imperial force cut off behind the advance of (insert your favourite hive fleet name here). The intrepid Inquisitor Lord Marius Agrippa and his followers, supported by inducted marines of the Disciples of the Ashen Blade, doughty squat warriors and an enginseer and his acolytes, seek to break through the surrounding tyranid forces and reach imperial space. I don't rate their chances very highly...

This also gives me an excuse to strip and repaint some truly ancient models. :)

So we begin with our Warlord, Inquisitor Lord Marius Agrippa of the Ordo Xenos:

At his side, Deathwatch Librarian Raziel of the Dark Angels:

Deathwatch Squad Hulegu (Sternguard):

Tactical Squad Gladius:

For some heavy support, Devastator Squad Spatha:

Using a separate post for this next piece, as it turned into a bit of an epic project. :)

Tactical Squad Ensis has been assigned Razorback Machaera to bear it into battle:

I decided to do a fully-detailed interior compartment, including an old Rhino Crew marine that I had lying around. I actually painted the interior before assembling the main body of the vehicle:

The other complication was that I magnetised the vehicle to enable me to add options if I wished. So here it is with a storm bolter, dozer blade, extra armour and H-K missile (the last from an Imperial Guard Chimera):

Comments, suggestions, and insults welcomed as always.

More soon...ish...

New additions! With the new rules, the army will be changing a bit. The Adeptus Mechanicus squad is getting cut in favour of a Callidus Assassin, so now I'm using the Inquisition, Space Marine, Astra Militarum and Grey Knights codices. This force could be described as "mildly unbound".

Navigator Tiresia (Inquisitor - Psyker with Divination)

(Malifaux Lady Justice figure with an added purity seal)

Tiresia leads a unit of Ordo Xenos stormtroopers (Astra Militarum Veteran Squad)

(Reaper Miniatures Nova Corp figures. The leader has been slightly converted to carry a power sword on his back and have a pistol rather than a rifle)

Cool use for the lady justice model.

I also like it, if someone paints the interior of his tanks.
This ancient Marneus Calgar is just pure awesomeness.

Three more figures! Yes, I paint with the speed of slug...

I like 'em all Manticore. (b~_^)b
One thing that surprises me (pleasantly) is how different the Reaper NOVA corp models look in your black with red details. It makes them quite menacing.

Love your use of non 40k minis, they fit the bill perfectly. I particularly like the Navigator, just the name with the mini conjures a whole slew of backstory in my mind!

Thank you, Nuke! Well spotted. I am indeed always happy to plunder mythology for names and ideas... :)

Two more members of Inquisitor Marius' retinue have finally emerged blinking into the light! Actually, one of them lacks eyelids, so blinking is probably a problem...

This is another figure from Reaper, Halbarand, with a few seals and relics added.

Next in line: a pair of Crusaders

Yes, I'm not dead. I finally finished the 1250-pt version of this list. Without further ado, I present to you:

Woo!
And thanks for the update. I think you did a great job painting the psyker, and it fits quite okay with only your minor weapon swap.

And I admit I saw the marines and thought they look sooooooo old. (Then I realised I've got most of those models in my Salamanders army. ) But I love them and those 3rd party jumppacks suit them really well. :)
