Yeah, that light really washes colours out lol. Under normal light the dried blood red is a lot darker. It's not highlighted because I am unsure what to mix paint wise to brighten it up, without it going pinkish on me.

heh, just use blood red as the highlight color :)

there's actually quite a difference between the new khorne red base color and blood red, and I've found it works for me.

Have not been following your blog at all, but decided to check it today and WOW, I have obviously been missing out!
Fateweaver and his accessories are awesome. Can't wait to see good pic of him.

And then there is the Maulerfiend... The rounded shapes of the GW model are a joke for a possessed demon engine; would never consider buying one.
Your redesign/resculpt on the other hand is what Chaos is all about: spikey, fleshy, armored, battle damaged and BLAARRGHAKLSAJKDALJDSFJ MORE SPIKES MORE SHARP POINTY CHOMPY BITS MORE RANDOM MUSCLE/TENDON GROUPINGS...

BTW what model are the lower legs from?

Flamer Herald, warp portal, Nurgle Herald and 'thulu face are all wonderful as well.

Tim

Lower legs are from the zombie dragon kit. The other half of those bits are a Heldrake in the making.

It senses though its tongue, witch allows it to "see" in ways only a Slannesh Daemon could (That's what is bound inside this abomination).

Feeler tongue? Nice  This is looking incredibly badass. The VC pieces mesh incredibly well with Chaos. Can't wait to see the final product.

Keke it tastes the air and can taste all the emotions flying around, creating a crazy picture in its mind that allows it to see. I imagine it as some Technicolor Predator vision. When Immobilized, the head come off, and thus it cant see anymore, so it stands around going... herpaderp.

I really want to kit bash a Kharibdyss for a x3 plasma forgefiend :<

I cant believe I finally got this thing done... again, apologizes for the super washed out colours from my desk lamp of blinding DOOM. I need to get my butt on a photo-box again...

It's full on Tyranids now. I want to get these models done and some old models touched up for the Hot Lead Convention.

Ensin and Administratum Grey. I mix the two together for various grey shades too. For the redish grey areas, that's Mephiston Red mixed in.

I know this is a very late reply (I missed a lot while I wasn't able to drop in)...

KrewL, that daemon prince is amazing! I was impressed with the conversion work before you started painting, but your painting on him is somehow beautiful, bold and restrained at the same time. The limited palette makes him look very dangerous and does nothing to draw attention to the heavy conversion and sculpting work you did, so all that work looks like it had been there all the long.

Your maulerfiend looks very slick and professional too.
