Hey, anyone who has the game, can you please give me a quick run down of what abilities and upgrades the Hive Lord can take.

I guess we can also generally talk about the Hive Lord as well.

A specially designed Hive Tyrant as far as I'm aware. Subsector Aurealia's (sorry if I spelt that wrong) last synaptic connection. Kind of similar to the Swarmlord in some senses.

I know it can also be upgraded to have crushing claws.

But why didn't they just put a normal hive tyrant? They can get a thousand upgrades, just like normal 40K HQs. I just don't see the reason for this hive lord rather than the tyrant, and I don't trust relic with making original concepts as I trust GW.

How can you not trust Relic to invent a Hive Tyrant with crushing claws? Anybody could do that. Names like "Hive Lord" and "Swarm Lord" are really just Imperial slang anyway. They're all Hive Tyrants when you get right down to it.

If you trust them to come up with Gabriel Angelos, Avitus, and Force Commander, what's so worrying about Hive Lord?

Well, either I haven't played much of the second one, or I didn't comnplete any campaign on the first one, but I have no idea what those units are.

I gues you're right in saying that down to it their all tyrants with diferent characteristics. But I don't see anything wrong with it having crushing claws, I was just worried that maybe they would downgrade the tyrant to make the lord look better in comparison.
