Spore chimneys start dumping spores into the atmosphere of the planet under Tyranid attack, accelerating the growth of all vegetation and preparing it for harvest during the end stages of the invasion.

The photo shows the color change progression caused by the spores as the invasion progresses through its different stages. Each new generation of vegetation has more red on the leaves until the final stages when the leaves are completely red and ready for harvest.

PS. They are actually grape leaves i picked on a walk today. I hope to paint up some spore affected vegetation for the tabletop and will use the leaves as inspiration for the painting.

I really like that idea mate.

The leaves in the pic above were from two different vines. Picked some leaves today from the same vines to get a complete color sequence from each vine.

Decided they needed more cowbe... I mean purple, so its off to Photoshop to change the red hues towards purple.

Although I'm not a fan of the ZOMG Purple Bug Syndrome(tm) (it's hard to take them seriously as killing machines of death when they're painted day-glo colours, imo), that second to last leaf with the big spots is pretty cool

I was wondering why there were pictures of leaves in the gallery.

If the green was darker, tending to olive, It'd look like Hydra's color scheme.
