Schzam. The modelling portion of the contest has concluded, and we will begin the voting process. These past two months I recieved 7 great entries, for you to scrutinize and vote for.

A few things to remember when voting:
1. You only get one vote so make sure it counts.
2. You may- if you wish, vote for yourself, as all voting is anonymous.

Also make sure to keep in mind the point of this competition: to create, or model a flying (or AA) Tyranid beast. Pick a model, which you think best represents this theme, as well as one that you think presents the greatest artistic merit.

On to the entrants:
Birds of Prey Gallery

Tyranid Shrikes by Bobdogii
Harpy by MysteryShadow
Parasite of Mortrex by Yaleling
Harpy by Broodmaster
Flying Hive Tyrant by bugsculptor
Parasite of Mortrex by Cfoolhu
Flying Hive Tyrant by KrewL RaiN

So there you go! Choose wisely and keep in mind that voting ends August 15th.

SUPER SECRET ANNOUNCEMENT!!

There is actually a prize associated with this contest that has been kept secret until this point. A Birds of Prey themed art piece has been hand drawn and hand inked by KrewL RaiN, and graciously donated to Warpshadow. The winner of this contest will receive this beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of Tyranid artwork commemorating your winning, and the Tyranid beasts depicted in the artwork will be inked in the colour of YOUR OWN HIVE FLEET! Under the circumstances that KrewL RaiN wins the contest the art piece will go to the second-place contestant.

If you have any questions or comments about the entries and their backgrounds, feel free to share them here

Great sculpts and painting across the board! Some nice ideas worth stealing too. Well done.

The choice is so hard, EVERYONE did great!

Bobdogii: I really love your Shrikes, I hadn't even considered Dragonfly wings. It adds a very different (and more fearsome IMO) feel. (b~_^)b

MysteryShadow: I want to say great things about your model, but I'm having a hard time with your picture  It looks very well put together and solid, and has a very dynamic pose. Nicely done :D

Yaleling: Wow! Stunning! A beautiful piece Yale, amazing overall. The mouth makes me laugh a little, it looks as if its smiling at it's prey. great job!

Broodmaster: I'm proud of it. I see so many mistakes and things I need to fix, but I'm happy with the result. The paint job needs work, and I'll fix it up when I actually have time. It was a blast to make, and fun to field too :D

Bugsculptor: WHOA  Thats a superb model. The talons on the feet remind me of a falcon/eagle attacking it's prey, and the tentacles on the face give it even more. A 10/10 from me

Cfoolhu: Like all the others, what a great entry! The model is near perfect. The pose, kit bash, and GS are aces in their own holes. That's something anyone would be proud to field. My only discrepancy with the model is I don't relate it to Rippers. You've done a nice job with the tail, to make it seem like implanters.

Krewl Rain: Good paintjob, and conversion to give it devourers. Very solid (b~_^)b

I'll have to go over the entries again, but as of now, my vote is leaning towards Bugsculptor.

EDIT: I ended up giving my vote to Bobdogii. While some might have been converted to a larger extent, Bobdogii had a much more finished feel. The paint job and basing was complete, and his creativity gave him +1 :D

Everyone did amazing, and IMO, deserves to win. Congratulations and good job!

Do people want to see the art or do we have to keep it secret until its coloured? It is a bit crazy looking with only lines and no colour right now lol. I'll probaly sneak in some other goodies with the art too.

I second the props to Bobdogii: I think he hit the "squad" target dead on - Cheers, dude! (b~_^)b

Agreed Broodmaster. :D I'm still deciding where to throw my vote.

Bobdog - I've not been much of a fan of dragonfly wings on tyranids in the past. But these ones suit those models so well. And I love the lashwhips.

MysteryShadow - I've always wanted to do something tyranidish with that fell-beast too. One day I might get around to it.

Broodmaster - I think it worked out well too mate. How did you find working with the plasma dragon wings? I bought a pair too, but was worried they would be too flexible to hold paint.

Bugsculptor & Krewl Rain - you guys already know I'm a fan of these pieces. :) I really love the gribblyness of the KrewL flyrant limbs, and that stunning head and face on the Bugsculptor flyrant. Hard to choose which one I like more.

Cfoolhu - You're making this hard too! I think it funny how similar our parasites came out. I'm pretty pleased with my pose, balance and that I got her painted in time. But your sculpting work is great (and if push comes to shove I'll have to admit I like yours better :P), I really like the tail and embiggened gargoyle head. No mistaking she is a unique species.

My vote was for Krewl's flyrant... obviously I love flying hive tyrants, but I especially like the claw hand and the pose on that guy. It has a series of well planned conversions that make it way cooler than a stock tyrant kit.

I guess I should've voted for my own, but I've got it sitting on my shelf here and the new ones are more exciting. Doh!

My vote went to Bugsculptor's flyrant. It wasn't an easy choice as all the entries are good, but I really like that model. It's cthuluesque head, hawk like talons, tfex arms for devs(so gonna steal that idea at some point) and then to top it off it the pose is great, it looks like it's just hovering ready to grab some dinner in those wicked talons:D

The paint holds fine, and it was really easy to paint. It was nice because I originally bought the plasma dragon for the egg to be a mycetic spore, and then got to use the wings for the Harpy :D

My vote goes to bug sculptor for the lovely tentacles, spineshields and clawed feet.

I voted for the parasite of mortrex. Most innovative model of them all imo.
