Broodbrothers and sisters!

Some of us have some huge beasties slumbering still wraped up in their foam in their closet, but are not "motivated" enough to give them the base and the paintjob they deserve.

So from this day on, the Gargantula Madness shall start.

The aim is to build and paint a gargantuan creature within three months. So here are the conditions:

Timeframe: 9th Sept 2010 - 9th Jan 2011

Miniature:
- The "Miniature" must be a tyranid model larger than a hierodule. If you have a hierophant still hiding in your bedroom, a harridan in your attic or if you want to scratch build something...

- The Minature shall not be made public on any boards before. If you have something started already, your welcome to join the party. If you have something done, but not shown around, keep it to yourself if you want to jump in the pool.

- To encourage other people to do their own beasties and to demotivate your opponents, you need to atleast post once a month an up date on your progress here.

Price: A beautifull miniature you have painted yourself

Ready, set, GO!

cool stuff there, maybe this is the push I need. I think since the base is done i will post the first result in a month so i can focus on my GD entries now. After Okt. 17 I will have time to focus on the big task ( no pun intended)

Maybe I'll finally and truly (paint is good enough to play at the moment, but it's incomplete) finish my Hierophant. Maybe.

I'm in. Got a Harridan to paint. I have a lot on over the next three months but even if i do not finish it in time at least i will have got it out of the box and started the ball rolling. I'm painting the model as is (no conversions) and adding a scenic base so i do not expect to win. I am (however) looking forward to seeing scratch built stuff from other people. Everyone should get on this comp and expand the hive. :D

Hydra,

Looking forward to seeing the two hierophants you mentioned some time ago. You could convert one of them to have the old pyro acid batteries (maybe back mounted). How cool would that be. :D

Harald,

just get your hierophant out of the box and start painting. We may not finish in time but we will die trying :D

Man I wish I was older then 15 and had money. There is no way in heck I would ever be able to get a phant becuase last time I brought it up with my mom "There is no way I am going to let you spend 300 dollars on a model!" "Its a foot tall" "I don't care". Parents :(. Surprised they let me get a trygon.

hehe, I'm 27, thinking "I wanna get a hierophant!.... hmm... not enough money. Hierodule? Not enough money. Trygon? Not enough money. GW plastic trygon?.... still not quite enough money"

In other words, mewiththeface, I'm jealous of you being able to get a FW trygon! (or any trygon at all)

This sounds awesome, i woundn't have expected even one person to show up, but as time flies, maybe we will make a huge brood of beasties!

@Hive Node: Working on it. And when it is done, you can put it here, since it is higer than a hierodule ;)
Or you take your hierodule and make it BIGGER! :D

@Vonny... didn't someone recently recieve a trygon? Well, yes, you didn't buy one, but you HAVE one ;)

yes, I was jealous of being able to get one (more). You know... jealous of having the means to get some, not jealous of not having any... why, I still have so many nids to paint I don't actually need to buy stuff until christmas, I think! (knowing my speed of painting, next year christmas, even!)

Too bad trygons are too small for this competition... and I don't even know what pose to put it in yet!

Well, I've wanted to make a Biotitan for a while now...

Guess this is a good way to motivate me to start/finish it

Well I don't know if excluding hierodules from the contest will bring enough participants but that is indeed a good idea to have huge beasts in a contest.

Cheers,

Lak

Wait, I could probably do this if I am allowed my hierodule sculpt which is a lot bigger than the Fw model. I mean, this thing is massive and I will be able to paint it up quickly with my airbrush coming in the end of the week.
