The Hindu Jiva is fun, but I was thinking more of a dancing Tyrant striking a pose with a wild paint job...

Jive tyrant?

with less than a minute of research I found 4 relatively significant meaning of the word Jiva:
1. An 80's ballroom dance stile
2. an Afro-American dialect
3. JIVE (Joint Institute for VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) in Europe)
4. In Hinduism, the word Jiva can describe a creature above mortality, who can continue to live even after the destruction of it's physical form. A Jiva is a being whose nature is on a higher spiritual lane, and who can create a new body after the loos of the old one. This new container for the Jiva's soul will have a shape and size dependent on the preferences, necesities and Karma of the Jiva.

So a Jive tyrant would be like a Hive tyrant, but with a far slimmer and lighter build with which to dance across the battlefield.

Well, that would most certainly be a fun project; I just wonder how many of us would actually take part.

I mean, each one would have to buy a new hive tyrant and lots of saws, clippers, green stuff and other modelling supplies.

We could do a comepetion to see who can create the best looking wings using their own methods, but not buying a wing from a company. The materials must be around the house items, and modifiable to fit any size tyranid (example: tyrant size to gargoyle size or vice versa).

Yes, you are right, perhaps it should be something more useful... :D

Well, a ton of things have been discussed in this thread, and many good ideas have been shared. Who actually makes the decision to go forwards with one of the ideas?

Ican't stop agreeing with your signature.

We could do a competition of basing! The best basing design takes away some pride and perhaps something else.

Hive Node, perhaps you should step in and lend some sombre reason to this thread. Are we interested in getting another contest going in the not-to-distant future?

Well even if the next contest is in the not-so-not-so-distant future, if we keep posting ideas here then there will be plenty to choose from when the time comes.

Ten New* Ideas (and one old one)
- Most impressive scratch-build (no official GW plastic bar sprue!)
- Legal Tyranid Kill Team (200 points, 0-1 Elites, 0-1 Fast Attack, 0-2 Troops, no HQ or Heavy Support)
- Tyranid ally/slave/counts-as for another race (Genestealer servitor, Dark Eldar beastmaster's hormagaunt, looted carnifex)
- Counts-as from another race! (Turn a model/brood Tyranid- maybe that Ogryn is now a Warrior!)
- Extreme Environment Tyranids (I've mentioned this before...)
- Proto-'nids (Give us a less evolved, more rudimentary Tyranid- like after Raveners/Warriors evolved legs, but before Synapse...)
- Objective markers!
- New MC/small brood: Tyranid Naval warfare (plus rules?)!
- Black-and-white only 'film noir'/chiaroscuro Tyranid painting challenge!
- Reimagined bug! (EG, is that Hive Guard instead a small Tyrannofex armed with only an undersized rupture cannon?)
- The Survivor (A heavily wounded/scarred Tyranid that's still managed to hold on THIS long! Old One Eye? Or perhaps a warrior? Maybe even a hormagaunt...)

*New from me. Others likely thought of several first.

But we can use pieces from sprues right? (example: a rending claw from a genestealer)

Not with the idea I have in mind, but if this became an official Warpshadow contest? You never know!
Conceptually, every bit would be sprue, plasticard, green stuff, brown stuff, milliput, paper clips, and the like- but it'd work just as well if it were 'no official GW heads, legs or bodies', as mimicking a devourer might be a little mean to those of us with greenstuff skills as poor as mine...

I'm very intrigued by that noire painting challenge... It seems like it would fit the Lictors...
