Very Nice, i like how you have painted a few things and i am going to definetly use a thing or two from it.

Although your scheme looks a little farmiliar to me, hehe

I definetly cant say that I was the first or anything for this scheme i got my inspiration for it from the 3rd ed rule book and one old WD that had a Battle Report with nids and this was the scheme, its nice to see another person showing off their old nids :). Although i made my old termaganuts into gargoyles. Anyway enough with the hijacking. Very nice models and painting, the black purple pink blue etc. looks great and it is fun when people ask what colour are your nids are and you reply Purple and Pink :P they expect something hello kitty and see the dark nids and they look awsome.

Fantastic Job.

Thread arise!

I realised it has been an awfully long time since I have taken an army shot. (Almost 4 years to not put too fine a point on it. :P) So here is where my army is up to now. I have only included fully painted models, or ones that are close enough to finished that I could field them.

It is no Hive Fleet Mystery Shadow or Hive Fleet Redoubtable Warrior, but it is growing steadily.

I really like this army shot. I love the colors, and it took me a while to realize how much your scheme and mine are alike. Only you have moe blue and purple, and I've got more of the bone/white.

I really love the 2nd ed flying hive tyrant, the slug on the right doesn't look out of place, and I love your trio of 3rd ed zoans (jealous girl here!).

I'm missing a certain gravy train in this picture...
But yes, very awesome!

I love the mix of old and new. I think I see a super jumpy hormagaunt in the back hehe. Are you using the armourcast sluggys as T-fexes?

Thanks Vonny. The photo isn't posed that well as I ended up taking it from a different angle to what I intended. So many of the zoanthropes got lost in the crowd. :wink: When I have added the final highlights to their carapace I'll show all of my 3rd edition zoanthropes in detail.

And I didn't think to include the gravy train. :oops: I've been using her as an objective marker and I left my objectives out of the photo to stop it getting too cluttered.

Thankyou too KrewL. The super jumpy hormagaunts were some of my favourite simple conversions for 3rd/4th edition. :) But of course they aren't ideal for 5th..... but rather than retire them, I simply now know which models will be the first casualties :P.
I have been tempted to use the haruspex as a trevigon and the exocrine as a tyrannofex as you say. But I've resisted thus far. I already have a couple of dedicated tyrannofex conversion in the works (one almost finished, and one barely started). I figure that if I start using an existing model then I'll have even less incentive to finish them than I do right now. :wink:

Yesterday I decided to finally getting around to adding up the points of what is in it. (Thanks to Frostbergs for his army creator. I'm not sure I could have been bothered without it. :)) Without maxing points, but equipping them as I would in normal games I get:

== HQ ==
Hive Tyrant (1) - Scything Talons, Scything Talons, AG, Wings, Paroxysm, Leech Essence = 240 pts.
Tyranid Prime (1) - Devourer, Pair Of Boneswords, Regeneration = 100 pts.

== Elites ==
Zoanthrope Brood (3) = 180 pts.
Zoanthrope Brood (3) = 180 pts.
Zoanthrope Brood (2) = 120 pts.
The Doom Of Malan'tai (1) = 90 pts.
Venomthrope (1) = 55 pts.
Deathleaper (1) = 140 pts.
Ymgarl Genestealer Brood (8) = 184 pts.

== Troops ==
Tyranid Warrior Brood (160 pts.)
--> Tyranid Warrior (4) - Devourer, Scything Talons = 120 pts.
--> Tyranid Warrior (1) - Barbed Strangler, Scything Talons = 40 pts.
Tyranid Warrior Brood (325 pts.)
--> Tyranid Warrior (6) - Deathspitter, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs = 270 pts.
--> Tyranid Warrior (1) - Venom Cannon, Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs = 55 pts.
Termagant Brood (12) - Devourer = 120 pts.
Termagant Brood (130 pts.)
--> Termagant (20) - Fleshborer = 100 pts.
--> Termagant (2) - Strangleweb = 30 pts.
Termagant Brood (135 pts.)
--> Termagant (21) - Fleshborer = 105 pts.
--> Termagant (2) - Strangleweb = 30 pts.
Hormagaunt Brood (20) - Toxin Sacs = 160 pts.
Hormagaunt Brood (10) - Toxin Sacs = 80 pts.
Genestealer Brood (8) - Scything Talons, Toxin Sacs = 152 pts.
Broodlord Brood (150 pts.)
--> Broodlord (1) - Scything Talons, Toxin Sacs = 65 pts.
--> Genestealer (5) - Toxin Sacs = 85 pts.
Broodlord Brood (388 pts.)
--> Broodlord (1) - Scything Talons, Toxin Sacs = 65 pts.
--> Genestealer (19) - Toxin Sacs = 323 pts.
Genestealer Brood (20) - Toxin Sacs = 340 pts.
Tervigon (1) - Crushing Claws, Cluster Spines, AG, Toxin Sacs = 205 pts.
Ripper Swarm Brood (3) - Spinefists = 45 pts.

== Fast Attack ==
Ravener Brood (4) - Rending Claws = 140 pts.
Ravener Brood (3) - Scything Talons = 90 pts.
Spore Mine Brood (3) = 30 pts.
Spore Mine Brood (3) = 30 pts.

== Heavy Support ==
Biovore (1) = 45 pts.
Biovore (1) = 45 pts.
Biovore (1) = 45 pts.
Carnifex (1) - Scything Talons, Scything Talons, AG, Frag Spines = 175 pts.
Carnifex (1) - Twin-Linked Devourer - Brainleech Worms, Twin-Linked Devourer - Brainleech Worms = 190 pts.
Carnifex (1) - Scything Talons, Heavy Venom Cannon, Bio-Plasma, AG, Frag Spines, Regeneration = 245 pts.
Old One Eye (1) = 260 pts.

== Total ==
4974 pts.

Then if I add in 325 for the Haruspex and 350 for the exocrine (from the BoLS Lord of Battle 2 supplement) that leaves me with a 200 model 5,624 point painted apocalypse army. (Not the most effective army mind you, but apocalypse is just about silliness anyhow. :P)

Very cool group shot you have there. I'm very jealous!

I really have to get to work on mine. If I keep perusing through threads like this, maybe I'll finally get off my butt and paint more than a model a month. lol

Either way Yale, beautiful army, and I'm definately jealous of your slugs. :)

I know it has been moot for the last 3 years but I set out to collect and paint the endless swarm when Apocalypse came out and damnit, I was going to finish it regardless. :D

Are there more pics of the mini-tyrant (leading a squad of terms mid-left) in your gallery? I'd like to have a closer look ... and perhaps nick the idea.

Cfoolhu - There are some old photos of her in my gallery. If you can wait for a few days I'll take some new ones once I've finished 'blue-ing up' the older broods. :wink:

It dawns on me that since I've been focusing on the endless swarm for so long that I hadn't quite realised I had finished the models for some of the other apocalypse formations too.

That and all the models I've finished lately takes the total army to 9,140 points!

I've taken some better shots of her for you now she is all blued up.

She is just a regular termagant with the feet, tail and head reposed. (Those feet look a bit thin now I look at it again.) The weapon is a cut down devourer and the barrel and bonesword or from the original plastic warriors. The last whip is just a bit of fencing wire, and I think the heat chimneys were from a cotton bud. I can't even remember what made me do this, I was just in a silly mood I guess. :P

It doesn't matter - I think it's fun idea :) Thanks for sharing; think I'll take a shot at building one myself.

Yeah... I like the little termagant prime too. It's a good idea!
