I really like your paint scheme. It is subtle yet striking. Also really like what you did for the feeder tendrils in the stealers. Different from the standard but both plausible and really nice looking.

Keep up the good work

Just to update the blog with the reclaimed Warriors shown in my new thread on the Painting board.

With the younger races encroaching on their domain, these ancient Orochi Warriors have awoken from their eon long slumber. Emerging from the depths of the world, they stalk forth to hunt their prey.

It's just a few layers of Graveyard Earth/Rotting Flesh mix onto bare patches of base. Followed by 2 layers of Water Effects.

Easy!

Last thread to be updated today :).

Just a very quick post to show the first of my completed Venomthropes.
As you can all no doubt see, I was inspired my Hydra's reposing of the limbs. I've also tweaked the tail as it looked a little too static.

I love the idea that the Venomthrope moves along on a carpet of writhing tentacles - not to mention I think it looks a little silly with everything groping forwards.

I've used the desaturated blues on the gas bladders too - I didn't really want to introduce another colour to model, but I needed something to make them stand out slightly from the brown body.

I hope it works! :)

Cool. The whole thing looks really earthly and natural, and the electric blue gives it a nice alien touch without losing the organic look.

Thanks for the kind words folks!

Just a quick post as I've re-fitted my Carnifex' following the new Codex. The massive points boost makes pretty much every upgrade a no go for me.

So... the two Gunfex (4th ed kit) have re-evolved into Scythed organisms, and the three Barbed Carnifex have followed suit.

The arms on some of these don't quite match the paint job on the rest of the model... the unfortunate side effect of them originally being painted in now discontinued colours :(.

I'm really starting to like using the small Hormagaunt Talons on larger models... just like a Tyrannosaurus :D

Even with you pointing that out and me looking for it, I can't spot the difference in colour. So I reckon you have done an awfully good job blending them in. :D

Me too. I've got a real thing for tiny vestigial arms on terrifying extra-galactic space monsters.

It's amazing to think that those 4th Edition Fexes looked so awful when you got them. Great work as usual Dusty Fox!

I really like what You've done with those 3rd edition Carnifexes too, but I'd have at least used Warrior Talons for the smaller ones. It used to be that my preference for 3rd edition monstrous creatures was the metal Scything Talons that came with the Red Terror kit, but I've also discovered that Mawloc Talons work great on the smaller Carnifex Models, and make them match up a little better with the more current creature designs.

TWo thumbs up.
As yale said, even with mentioning, it is hard to spot the difference!

I hope they will serve you good!

The whole swarm is simply fantastic, i love the inclusion of the older bugs, and i have to say the paint job is brilliant! (i do agree with Hydra that it might need a T colour though, as those models with the wonderfully nasty blue really stand out)

Keep the cool rescues and pictures coming; oh and if you do want to branch out in the the gargantuan, i recommend scratch building in Fimo, it is cheap and easy!

Love your army!

How did you create your flying Warriors? Particularly how did you stick them to your Warrior models - I noticed that you used Metal wings.
