Evening everyone!

This evening I can present my third Swarm Tyrant (Devourers). Nice and quick to paint up once he'd sat about for months before hand.
Another Ebay rescue too.
The embryonic sacs (egg looking things) were coated in PVA to give a slight sheen in an attempt to make them stand out a little more... not sure I like it, but they're good enough for now.

Photo's (slightly better quality than usual :) - maybe it's all the mulled wine i've just imbibed);

That's all my half painted models done now... could be a while before I muster the effort to start on something else. I'm currently looking at another 40 unpainted Gaunts :?

Apologies mate - I neglected to address this in my last post.
I'm holding off sharing the background with too many people at the moment. Pending some potential developments on being able to get it up on the internet in a decent medium.

Thanks for looking!

Ahh man that Tyrant Brood brings a tear to my eye, so much awesome, it'd be great if you could take a brood of lesser tyrants in an army, 3 or more with twin-devourers, that's just nasty. Useful in Apocalypse but otherwise just cool looking.

Goooooood afternoon ladies and gentlebugs,
Just an update to confirm that I am still alive.

I've added a couple more Raveners to my Swarm along with a seventh Zoanthrope. I've had them for ages but they were unpainted as I could never field more than three of them.

Ravener Brood led by the feared Shudde-M'ell.

Hope they're well received!

Finally, a few shots of some future projects.

Two old Lictors; the 3rd 'ed model was a 'freebie' as part of an Ebay purchase. It's right leg, flesh hooks and upper claws were missing. I added some Warrior flesh hooks and added a set of 3rd 'ed metal talons taken from the damaged Red Terror model I used to create Shudde-M'ell. Finally, with some massive twist of fate, I found a spare right leg in my bits box! This is especially strange as I've never even owned a 3rd ed Lictor before!

The second model was assembled from a massively damaged 2nd 'ed model someone gave me around 13 years ago :shock: . All that was left was the tail, legs, upper body (minus arms and with snapped flesh hooks) and head (minus mandibles).
I;
- Trimmed back the broken arm stumps and fitted a set of plastic sything talons.
- Attached 'stealer claws to the original 'dorsal fin' slot and attached a couple of Gaunt plated over the top of them.
- Bent the tail for a bit of animation.
- Trimmed down the broken head mandibles.
- Trimmed the broken flesh hooks and carved out the lead surrounding the couple of hooks that survived.

It 'aint pretty but I think it's a pretty good recovery from something that was good only for the bin.

Aaaand - another rescue; Malanthrope from ebay. One forearm was missing from the elbow. My original plan was to simply remove the front limbs and replace them with modified Hormagaunt talons. Unfortunately the previous owner seemed to have used concrete to attach them.
So I lopped of the intact arm at the elbow and set about continuing the tentacle theme.

Yes.... I have a thing for rescuing mistreated Tyranids. It's like Animal Hospital... but with ravenous space monsters... and no Rolf Harris.

So... what do think?

I think you should get a Warpshadow gallery to store these bugs in... :lol: [Hope you don't mind I went through some of the older posts and converted to [img]

And rescueing bugs off eBay - it is such a rewarding effort. There are always fun items to be had...

Really like those broods of Zoans...

In my opinion, your colour scheme is really great, just as your models and the photos of the whole army are amazing. Cheers! :)

Tentacles on the malithrope will make it look ten times better then with the normal scything talons.

Thanks for that Accommodator! Makes the thread look a lot shinier :D. I am planning on a Warpshadow gallery, but only once I've re-photographed the whole army - most of the photo's are still showing the old tongue and eye colours.

I hope so :) - I have to confess, I was a little unsure if I could pull it off. I guess I'll only be able to tell once it's painted.

UPDATE;

Finished off my second (and likely final) brood of Genestealers. Whilst I'd like another brood of them, I found the models a real chore to paint. No idea why; perhaps it was the fact that they were waiting for paint for a couple of years, maybe it's the lack of flowing carapace.

I know it's more of the same old, but I've gotten most of my older models finished now - hopefully I can move onto some more interesting creatures.
I also have a new method of painting them that, I feel, looks much nicer. I was saving it for the '5th ed' spawning' so that I had a nice visual seperator between old and new.

Thanks again folks,
