Greetings, Hive Siblings,

I have finally finished my current preferred 2000-pt iteration of my swarm, and so to celebrate, I'm sharing. Mix of old and new photos here:

Quick shout out to KrewL RaiN, from whom I stole the idea of using genestealer scything talons as an alternative to toxin sacs. I call this a Variant Kappa:

And occasionally the Variant Delta and Von Ryan's Leaper make appearances:

what I find most amazing is that you have quite a large variation of colours between your various units and yet somehow they still look a unified force. Any hints as how you made that work?

Congratulations on hitting the milestone Manticore. :D Getting a current army finished is one of those really, deeply satisfying events that you just can't share non-hobbyists.

I was surprised at getting a stab of nostalgia on seeing your Von Ryann's leaper. It took me back to a younger me and a younger Warpshadow. It was great to see the little guy again. :)

I hadn't really thought about it. I started collecting and painting tyranids back in the Rogue Trader days. When the first full army list was published in WD 145, and they were all different colours, I followed this idea of diversity of coloration. I have since continued to do so rather than landing on a particular hive-fleet colour scheme. That said, I do have a loose awareness of what colours I paint things in that my nids with similar colour schemes tend to have similar battlefield roles or work together on the battlefield.

There are certain colours that I use a lot, though: shades of bone, green, red. Maybe that's what makes the army look reasonably unified?

Welcome to Warpshadow MerxJura. :D That is a nice healthy chunk of Tyranids too.

Would you mind if I split your post into its own thread to get more attention and replies?
