...So our new big beastie is now 90 Power. Is this SuperMonster really worth the price of admission?!

I've yet to play an Apocalypse-Sized game of 8th edition. Is it worthwile? Seems rather expensive.... Considering a Thunderhawk is half the cost!

Fifty wounds, 2+ save, plus the invulnerable - 'Phant will take a long, long time to take down, I think.

Just interesting to see if he's worth the big cost of 90 power!!

On paper, it sounds like the Hierophant would be a total beast in Close Combat!

I have yet to use one (in any edition sadly!) but yeah it seems almost unkillable. Put a malanthrope behind it for even more comedy! The problem with the hierodule is two-fold. Its guns are amazing, on average it should kill 2 wraithknights every turn! However, vs marines on average it will only kill 4-5 with shooting. So swarm armies are going to be a real problem just because you can't kill them fast enough. That leads to the other problem, sure you can get into CC and murder things but if the enemy is a swarm at all and spreads out a bit you won't be able to kill enough and hold enough objectives. I think it sounds super fun in giant games or to play for fun with your buddies, just to see if they can kill it in 5-7 turns but I don't think it would be a tournament competitive list. Here is a 2K list I have done for fun.

2000 Nids Patrol and Super Heavy
HQ P1 1 Malanthrope 90

Troops P2 10 Hormagaunts 50

LOW LOW 1 Hierodule 1860

Models 12 Total 2000
Units 3
CP 3

Bonus: in 8th, it can also work as a transport. Slap on 'Stealers or Hormies, carry them in, and just watch the enemy melt.

Yeah, that is my list, the 10 horm's ride in the beast and the malanthrope walks right behind it so it can't be targeted since its a character.
