I really like the way stealers work in the new rules and have been thinking about switching to an all genestealer army. I know we can only have 6 units + Broodlord retinue.. But I think backed up by a few regular nids like a carnifex or lictors for the fun of it, it could still be a pretty solid army. Anyone tried an army like that? does it work well?

Yes, a genestealer-based nid army is quite powerful. Shockingly so, in fact.

However, this isn't a genestealer cult. Cults involve host DNA in abundance, including half-humans driving trucks, firing guns, etc.

A *legal* genestealer cult is either:
1. A genestealer cult in a consenting gaming group
2. A genestealer cult made out of imperial guard armylist options (sanctioned psyker with honorifica imperialis for magus, ogryns for stealers, conscripts for brood brothers, etc).
3. A genestealer cult that has infiltrated the police force

The third option there would be a pretty funny themed army actually. Traffic police with oviposters - ow.

Well, you could go for:

Broodlord: Patriarch.
Genestealers: Guess.
Spinegants: Brood-brothers.
Zoanthrope: Magos.

Dunno what you could do for Hybrids...Warriors with Spinefists, rending claws, and a few upgrades might work...or pumped-up spinegants...can't see them as hormagaunts, they're sure not that quick.

It might not be that capable on the battlefeild, but if it looks good, go for it!

I've always thought the LATD codex would make a decent stealer cult list - daemonettes as stealers (they jump out when they get close), muties as hybrids and you're pretty much there.

There is a Legal 100% fair and by the rules way to do a Genestealer Cult. Imperial Doctrines. Counts as rules for Imp Guard you can make your own Cult w/in the rules.

Here is a link to how to do it.

There┬┤s a guy in the german WD team who does that. He uses a Demon Prince as a Patriarch and a sorcerer as Magus; both with the mark of Tzeentch, f.ex.... the Cult did pretty well in a battle report, and it looked like the LatD List does pretty well for a ┬┤stealer infestation...

Yeah, but that doesn't have any actual genestealers :(

Genestealers? If you really want to, you get an approximation by using daemonettes.

I just use IG with doctrines and ask my opponent's permission to take Genestealers as Elites.

Since my 2ndary army will be Witch Hunters, I'm probably going to create an adversarial Cultist list from the rules in the back of the Codex:WH... Traitors & Mutants as the cultists/hybrids, Apostates & Rogue Psykers as the Magi, and Broodlords/Genestealers as themselves!

Of course, this list could only be used against certain opponents :?

Why not use genestealer models to represent roughriders or ogryns?

Genestealers with ripperguns. Does that answer your question?
