I should probably start by saying "I know I have a lot of Tyranids." It stands to reason: I've been playing since 2nd edition and I have a tendency to absorb the local armies of bugs whose players move on to greener pastures. It's a weakness, I suppose, but a pleasant one. However, I'm not really certain just how far overboard I've gone at this point. Am I only a little crazy? Moderately unhinged? Totally out of touch with reality? Perfectly sane and well rounded? Well I suppose that depends on how I figure against the average.

But then, tragedy struck (Dun dun dunnnnnnn!). I considered that I don't really know what an "average" size Tyranid army is. I'm not confident in my base for comparison on either a model number, or points-worth scale. I may have been gobbling up what amounts to small splinter fleets; or maybe they were hive fleets after all? Just how big have the mouthfuls been?

Ultimately, it's a matter of perspective. Big picture and all that.

SO!

If you are so inclined, perhaps you wouldn't mind putting my completely unimportant curiosities to rest. I'm looking at a total number of models vs. a WYSIWYG points total with no extras (no additional powers/abilities that don't have to be shown on the model). Just the bare bones scale of your fleet.

As a nice side effect, once we get a decent sample-size of replies, you can see just how far you've gone with your army as well.

Perhaps we can get a group therapy rate, or some equivalent.

Sure, I'll play :)

178 models, 26 kill points, 256 total wounds - 4142 points ... roughly.

3 HQ comprised of 2 Tyrants, 2 TGuards & a Swarmlord (currently in production)

11 troop squads (including the Tervigon here)
2 fast attack squads (20 gargs, & 3 shrikes)
3 Elite (Dom, and two full Zoey squads)
3 Heavy Support (2x Screamer-killer squad, 1 dakkafex & a Tyrranofex

My list is probably on the small side, considering the monstrosities I know are here - still, I'm happy to be a humble splinter of the greater Gestalt.

13,000 points and I think I've put the list up somewhere here. I'll see if I can track it down.

Alrighty, we'll see if anyone can beat my ridiculous model-hording:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub ... utput=html

1129 models, 28,904 points. This does include biomorphs, but only ones that are represented on the models, or something that I always take [like toxin sacs on Genestealers]

I was hoping this thread would pull you out of lurk mode BO(V)BZ. :)

I've been using your collection as a baseline for years now. When ever I feel that my tyranid collection has gotten out of hand, I think of you and feel re-assured that my collection isn't that crazy. :P

Your collection actually makes me feel pretty good about my "habit." Thanks! ... It also makes me want more 'stealers ...

The Zoats are ancient even for me - I've been playing since 2nd edition and they were hard to find then! I think I got them on Ebay or bartertown - not from anyone in person.

Don't use us nutters as your yardstick ProjectThanatos! :) I figure if you've got enough models to field the army you want, with the options you want, then it is big enough. (With the armies I've started in the last few years I've placed a hard limit on how big they can get.)

Excellent! Thank you all for your responses.

It would appear I am still in the average range, after all. My outdated (2 year old) count stands at a middling 425 models, and 6951 points bare bones.

It appears I am due for an up to date count, and an inventory. Results by the end of the weekend, if anyone is interested.

As odd as it may seem, I am actually kind of relieved to find I am not as far off the edge as I suspected.

or maybe I just have plenty of company ..

Er, around 16k points, but not all assembled and ready.
Assembled and ready around 8k, including gargantuans.
I don't feel so bad about having "too many" now.
