Hey fellow gribblies and gribblettes, got a question concerning Gargoyles and their Blinding Venom close combat attack:

Gargoyles that take Toxin sacs: Does the 4+ poison of the Toxin Sacs apply to their Blinding Venom close combat attack?
Reasons for: Toxin sacs apply poison 4+ to all close combat attacks for a unit so upgraded, e.g. Rending Claws, Boneswords, etc. all benefit from it.
Reasons against: Blinding Venom states it is poison 6+ in the profile.

Sorry if this question has already been asked/explored before, I searched through the posts, but couldn't find it.

Cheers,
Iron Nid.

Interesting question, really.

Blinding venom states: "In close combat, a model with this biomorph can exchange all of its normal Attacks to make a single blinding attack, which uses the following profile: etc." Note that the profile specifically says 'melee'.

I would've said that foregoes the benefit of the toxin sacs, so I read what toxin sacs says exactly.

"If a model has the toxin sacs biomorph, its close combat attacks have the Poisoned special rule." Since the single blinding venom attack is still a melee attack, I'd say yes, it is on 4+. Nice find!

Thank you Vonny!

I think the bit that helps back it up is in the BRB where the Poisoned USR is detailed:

'If a model has the Poisoned special rule, or is attacking with a Melee weapon that has the Poisoned special rule, it always wounds on a fixed number, unless a lower result would be required, when attacking in close combat'.

I feel it's the 'unless a lower result would be required' part that confirms it. I always saw that as meaning for example a Carnifex will wound a Space Marine on a 2+ so forgoes the specific Poison number (benefitting from the re-roll to wound), but I guess it applies here too.

Cheers,
Iron Nid.
