Hey everyone!

I've been thinking a lot about getting back into painting recently and I was thinking about picking up a German Estelle Cult Goliath or Chimera as my first model to paint.

Now here lies the problem. As I've only ever (poorly) painted Tyranids I have very little idea on how to even paint metals/armours so that they look more realistic/not flat.

Any tips orsuggestions? Also, how are the Forge world weathering powders?

Painting vehicles is the same as footmodels but on bigger surfaces. This, i think is the biggest challange, becaus you want a really smooth paint surface.
You can do this with a brush, but make sure that you thin down your paint to get an even coat.
Better do two or three thin layer than one thick.
Drybrushing with a large brush helps to bring out detials on your tanks.

The FW powders are great, there is/was a tutorial on their page that shows how to work with them.
But every pigments you can buy work the same.

There are lots more things you can do on tanks, the possibilities are almost endess.

Check this out for inspiration:

have fun, go wild, dont be afraid, just paint.

For metallics, I recommend mixing the base metal with a nom-metallic color. Then glaze the shadows down heavily (not washing). In following these two steps, your highlights will then pop and actually appear more metallic. Check out the simple (though slightly fuzzy) pictures of my Khorne Aspiring Deathbringer in another thread for examples of dramatic metallics.
