So well.. I have had a break once again (Gah, why do I have those so often?) but started painting again after I moved to a new apartment :)

So I finished (Or well, finished for now...) 5 gargoyles. I tried to take a few pics (God damn I suck at taking those pictures!!! Most of them are dead blurry) of them. Critics and comments are welcome :)

When I toss the finishing touches on my Trygon, 3 raveners, 3 warriors, some hormies and termies I will post them too :)

Simple scheme but quite effective, I like it! Looks like one of the gargoyles needs more wash/dip on the underside of his wing, other then that they look splendid. The reddish jaw is a nice accent.

That is a great scheme, and you've done the dipping masterfully because the models don't immediately look obviously dipped. Further, as NukeAngel commented, the red/pink jaws are a good touch to break up the model a bit more.

It's actually not made from dipping, but nearly all done by washing :)
I ain't the greatest painter, so it's an easy way for me to get the models done xD

The pictures doesn't make them look good though. I will try to get some better pictures when possible. Just seems hard.

Same boat on painting. Great on converting paiting is eh for me.

As for pictures. Tri-pod and if your camera can focus it in then set a timer so you are not touching it at all or get a wand? that attaches to the camera and yoiu click it to snap the shot again not touching the camera.

I am looking at tri-pods myself as I want to take some WIP shots of my old 2nd/3rd edition 'nids I am rebuilding and preping to paint.

*Side note old metal models tarnished anyone know if that will have an effect on painting? I started using a dremel wire disk to "polish" them up but I can't get into every part and it takes a really long time to get an entire model done.

Wash your metal models in warm soapy water. Your ex-girlfriend's toothbrush works wonderfully.

...Seriously, wash them.

I always wash stuff.. Or well ;)

At least most is used by different inks and the like. It works quite well for me, as I never seem to be lucky with either layering or blending :S

Anyway. I took a few more pics (Though still a bit blurry, gah). I tried out a few different ways to do the striping on the carapace, and I am more fond of it this way, then my older tries. Had a hard time getting the lightning good here, but will try some other setups later on.

Heh, I understand that. Sometimes effects that work in real life are very hard to photograph well. But the colour are nice, your models well painted and the figures are simple and bright enough that I imagine the army will look good as a whole too.

Cheers Yale. I will look at taking a army wide shot of the progress soon. But that is harder if needing the white background and some good lightning :P But yeah, it looks quite well so far.

Okay, took a few army shots because I felt like it.

Most of the models are still WIP, as I have to base them, paint the claws and stripes on the carapace. But I am getting there :P
Still got loads of models to assemble and paint though. Just lack metal glue atm, for some older raveners, a hive tyrant etc.

The army looks great! I like the color scheme you've chosen, and the painting is well executed. :D

Cheers. Working on finishing my current models, but also trying to assemble some more (God damn I hate assembling that Hive Tyrant!).

Not sure what to do with my fexes though. I got like 3-4 lying around unassembled.

I do need your thoughts however. Not sure how I will do the basing really, and a lot of my army is at the point of basing time. Any thoughts? Have both thought of a jungle like theme to mix with the carapace, or a wasteland like to fit the skin.

You could also go for contrasting colours for basing to make your models stand out. In this case, it would be dark colours and if you really want to be super contrasty, purple hehe, but that might be too acid trippy lol. Thay gray that the bases have on them works as a colour too, could go urban! Wasteland would be your easier option if you go with it. Jungle bases tend to take a bit more work, but pet stores always have some cheep small plastic plants to cut up for that and if you get lucky, the dollar store.
