Thats so far the best swarmlord ive seen. I could hit myself for not thinking about this vonversion: big fex body, small tyrant head. It is just brilliant! I always think the space marines look so damn cool because their shoulder pads are so big and the heads are so small. This here is the same idea. pure awesomeness

I second Terror's sentiments, that is one awesome Swarmlord. His pinhead makes him seem even more massive! Also well done with those posed Trygons, I'm sure with the bases finished and that sexy paintjob of yours on 'em they will be absolutely stunning. /drool!

This stuff is bloody beautiful, Absolution, and I can't wait to see some better shots of that Swarmlord.

Well, got this guy done. Might drop some shadows into the light flesh parts but that's something I'll think about for some time, so for now I declare it done. Termagants or tervigons next, hmmm... More pages to the comic, somewhat soon as well.

@Vonny
Yes, I thought I'd do some kind of diorama as I was doing the swarmlord. Always fun to participate, the more entries the merrier. Guess the duel is more epic from the perspective of the chaos marine, but you never know with those warppossessed deviants... :)

Cheers

Jutami, I thought your scheme was spectacular before, but what you've done on this embiggerized swarmlord is simply stunning. That strange sheen effect on the carapace and swords really help draw even more attention to what was already impressive cutlery! I usually dislike people's attempts at plastic fex kit tyrants, but yours is so charming I'm contemplating trying my hand at something similar!

By the way, I failed to comment sooner on your tervigon trio. The body shape is great with that huge looming hunchback. With all those odd carapace plates and frills converging together makes it looks like a beautiful coral reef grew legs! Those spider parts as egg-pods are genius too, I like how they are segmented, it's alost as if the gaunts just bud off her and molt from the orbs, that one hatching is amazing!

Enough of my very sincere ass-kissing :lol: , how is the comic going along?

I too am inspired to make a fex based Tyrant now! I want my all scything brute tyrant to look larger and stronger then my commander flyrant. The brute flyrant would go after armour, so want to show that its bigger/stronger for the job. Seeing how you created your Swarmy, I think I could pull it off.

I hope your Swarmy gets noticed on CMoN as well as your Tervigon did.

Could you please elaborate on this? Noticed? I have "noticed" nothing in particular about the tervigon, except a few replies... :/ Am I missing out on something??

@BarbaroisBob
The biggest problem with the plastic fextyrants is the head, I noticed it originally when I looked at peoples fextyrants, and I met with the finality of that problem when I was assembling my own. It's pretty much a fact of perception that the larger the head(or should one say "face"), the more animal and, in some cases, brutish, the creature looks. Also, the fex head has the eye further back with a larger mouth, which again brings out more animal looks than "humanoid" looks, further making it look less intelligent, which on the contrary the tyrant is more humanoid, tho still far from... The tyrant head was the best solution, my buddy having an extra head eased the whole "where to get" issue as well.

The 2nd Tervigon has the eggs that have skulls on them, lets see how they turn out, I was thinking it should be intresting since they have that round quality, so they could be made to look quite nicely shiney(round NMM technique violation incoming). The third one(HQ tervigon, or normal if needed, but I made it a bit different so it's easy to distinguish when needed) has the segmented ones as well.

As for the comic, it's a irritating situation. Do I use my spare time for furthering the miniatures, or the comic. Since I'd actually like to game with painted models sooner or later, I'm working on the comic in short bounds, when I feel inspired to. Can't say exactly when the next installment will be, since I'm doing a 2 pages ready for each "publication". :P

Thanks for the positive replies everyones, it's back to the drawing board for me. :)

Cheers

Ah yeah I can be a bit too vague at times. It was just really cool to see your work in the top ten of current submissions, hence me saying noticed.

OH MY GOSH! Thats was my favourite swarmlord so far but with this paintjob I think it IS the best swarmlord around atm :shock: You thought about expanding the diorama and enter it in the golden demon. You have chances ! (b~_^)b

Best.
Swarmlord.
Ever.

Definitely. The Tyrant head was inspired. He looks less brutish, as you mentioned, and he also looks more armoured now. Excellent work!

I couldn't say it any better. :wink: I've seen lots of carnifex to tyrant conversions from the meh to the good. But the tyrant head scales everything perfectly. :D
